How to prepare for pest control

Simple steps to get your home ready so a treatment is safe and effective.

Educational article · [author / reviewer]

Good preparation helps a treatment reach the right areas safely. In general, clear access to skirting boards, kitchens, bathrooms, and anywhere you've seen activity. Move furniture away from walls where you can.

Cover or remove food, and keep pets and their food and water bowls away from areas to be treated. Fish tanks should be covered with the pump turned off during treatment.

We'll send specific preparation guidance relevant to the pest when you book — for example, bed bug treatment needs more thorough preparation than a general spray. Always follow the guidance given for your situation.

This article is general information, not a substitute for an inspection. If you're dealing with the pest described, we can assess your situation directly.
